This project tutorial explores current issues of family life through interdisciplinary lenses. It integrates microsociological as well as ethnographic theory and methodological approaches with contemporary artistic practices. Students from various study programs and all disciplines are invited to explore the meaning of the family itself, family abolitionism, kinship, care and solidarity, migration and transnationalism as well as queerness and their interrelations. The seminar culminates in a collaborative co-curated digital exhibition highlighting current family processes. The tutorial is based on a mixed-methods approach and combines quantitative and qualitative evidence with theoretical and artistic discussions. Participants are encouraged to reflect upon social change and family structures, supporting active interdisciplinary participation without requiring prior subject knowledge. Part of the tutorial will be a visit to an exhibition in Berlin.
