The course will offer a comparative perspective on concepts of the spirit or a plurality of spirits within various religious traditions. Additionally, we will discuss the concept of spirit / spirits in view of its hermeneutical potential for understanding history, interreligious relations, and social dynamics. In particular, we intend to suggest an account of European modernity beyond the binaries of religion and secularity. By involving perspectives from outside of Europe, we hope to make the familiar strange and the strange familiar.
Readings for the course will be made available via moodle.
Registration to the course prior to the first session is not mandatory. You are welcome to get in touch via E-Mail. The access key for moodle will be given in the first session.
