The course is open to those who have completed Course 1 or who have obtained equivalent skills elsewhere. It is recommended for students from the 5th semester of medical studies onwards. We will practice skills like giving clear instructions in the physical examination of the patient, explaining investigations, diagnoses and treatments to patients without resorting to medicalisms, condensing the patient's story into case notes and documenting them according to the conventions used in medical practice, presenting patients to medical colleagues and being able to discuss cases with them. Discussions of current medical issues will provide students with additional opportunities to boost their vocabulary and improve their grammar and style.
Final tests: reading comprehension, writing (case report). Knowledge of Medical German required.
