This course aims to support students who are already in Economics and Business Studies or those who plan on doing an MA in this area or who simply want an insight into this area. A major aspect is improving speaking (building up vocabulary), reading, writing, and listening skills for study and work purposes. Topics which are of most interest to students plus problematic grammar aspects where support is needed will be agreed in the first lesson.
The course will support students in completing a professional CV, letter of application/motivation for work or study (plus related interviewing skills) and focused essay writing. Participants are expected to give a class presentation on a business/economics subject of their choice, which will be graded. Credit will be obtained on the basis of regular and active participation, as well as successful completion of the final test on reading, listening plus grammar.
