This course aims at improving writing and presenting skills in a scientific context, with primary assignments being based on participants' own research topics. Input sessions focus on analyzing real publications and articles, with emphasis on text-genre structures, grammar topics relevant for scientific writing (e.g. tenses, passives, punctuation, complex sentences), vocabulary and standard phrases needed for scientific publications, as well as distinguishing formal from informal language use. Required writing includes an abstract and an introduction, relating to participants’ own research; these will be refined using both peer and teacher feedback.
The course takes place on Campus Adlershof.
